THE THOUSAND NAIRA QUESTION: NIGERIAN PERSPECTIVE.
The dreams of most young Nigerian students after graduation would be to get a high paying job. What happens when these young graduates are unable to get any job let alone their dream jobs? What happens to the millions of unemployed graduates roaming the streets of Nigeria in search of employment? What happens to the thousands of graduates springing out yearly from our higher institutions? What happens to the thousands of employed graduates threatened by the impending shutdown of various private and public institutions such as Neco and Jamb? All these questions and many more looms my mind as well as the minds of many concerned Nigerians.
In a country where investment efforts by young and enterprising Nigerians is discouraged due to high level of corruption and reluctance of financial institutions to grant credit facilities, where power generation and supply is at best the level of a third world country and epileptic, where the level of growth and development of her youths is at a crawl only comparable to the pace of a snail, where employment is mostly by “I M syndrome” i.e “man know man” and most appalling of all, where unemployed graduates extort money from unsuspecting unemployed victims in the guise of assisting them secure employment. How Ironic! How then will youths with creative and entrepreneurial spirits be motivated to embark on the adventure of job creation and self sustenance?
Be it as it seems, Nigeria is a country with great potentials capable of becoming a world power few years from now if her resources are to be channelled to the right elements of the society being the youths, whom our leaders claim to be leaders of tomorrow; yet these same leaders exhibit “sit tight” syndrome with close to infinite tenures in different public offices. This practice stimulates corruption, inefficiency and frustrates the efforts of young and aspiring leaders. How about we youths tell the leaders the tomorrow starts today!! In spite of all these, there is hope for Nigeria.
There is hope that one day, Nigeria would be a country that advocates and practices equal opportunity for both the privileged and unpriviledged, there is hope that very soon; the federal government would realize the need to empower unemployed graduates by passing and approving a bill that stipulates monthly payments for them to enable them undertake creative and entrepreneurial ventures as well as empower unemployed and uneducated youths by approving and financing realistic skills acquisition and development programmes for them. Despite the constant security threats posed by insurgent militant groups and many more, the youths of our great country believe in Nigeria.
I BELIEVE IN NIGERIA…..GREAT PEOPLE, GREAT NATION….DO YOU?

First off I would like to say fantastic blog! I had a quick question in which I’d like to ask if you don’t
mind. I was interested to know how you center yourself and clear
your head before writing. I have had difficulty clearing
my mind in getting my ideas out. I do enjoy writing however it just seems
like the first 10 to 15 minutes are usually lost simply just trying to
figure out how to begin. Any recommendations or hints?
Cheers!
